This weeks scripting assignment is done and dusted and I must say I'm really pleased with how its turned out. Its come along way and I learned quite a bit on AS3 over holiday.
The game starts with the character on the ground level with instructions that temporarily show what the player needs to do. Once the flies start spawning the player can start splattering them. The score count is shown on the right, and to the left is the wave number and wave time. When the wave time completes the player can have a 5 second break so that he can run upstairs and grab some health and the fly's are disabled from spawning.
After the break a new wave starts and the game gets harder. At the moment only the spawn rate increases, which means the flies spawn quicker.
I think this game has a lot of potential and I think I may remake it one day in the future. If I can team up with someone who is good Art and Animation to make it look awesome and have some good cartoon effects. At the moment there is no animation except for main character running but that looks rubbish.
I want to see this game have aesthetics which really give the player the feeling that he's just squished a fly. This would be done in the animation of the fly getting obliterated and creating a mess all over the walls etc. Maybe even having stains on his shirt every time a fly smacks into him. The current game does have some good sound effects though.
If it needed to get harder there could be timer which doesn't allow the player to stand still for too long and even just making the flies move quicker, harder to kill, and cause more damage.
